As a community built on a foundation of strength, leadership, and mutual support, we, as Alpha Kappa Alpha® women (Alpha Beta Zeta Chapter, St. Clair County, IL) pause this Memorial Day to acknowledge the brave individuals who have made valiant sacrifices. True leadership is defined by service to others, and today, we remember the ultimate service of those fallen.

We hold their courage in our hearts and extend our gratitude and respect for all who bravely lived and fought for the freedoms we are privileged to uphold every day.

Alpha Beta Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. would like to remind our families in the community that May is Mental Health Awareness Month. This is a time to pause, reflect and remind ourselves that caring for our minds is just as important as caring for our bodies.

We recognize that strength is not only found in what we carry for others, but also in the courage to care for ourselves. Prioritizing mental wellness is not a luxury; it is a necessity. It is found in the boundaries we set, the help we seek, the rest we honor, and the grace we extend to ourselves and one another.

This month, we encourage you to do the following:

Check in with yourself honestly
Reach out to someone you trust
Normalize conversations around mental wellness
Give yourself permission to rest
Support those who may be struggling in silence

Let us continue to create spaces where healing is welcomed, vulnerability is honored, and no one feels alone in their journey. Because when we care for our minds, we strengthen our communities.

A special thanks to Kay our Financial officer for taking the lead on this initiative and also to JaMecia, technology chairman for creating the awesome flyer.
