What an impactful day! Every summer we conduct a Veteran Center Retreat with our VA Work Study team and elected Student Veterans of America leaders. We did an ice breaker in an escape room. Grabbed lunch in downtown New Bedford. Then workshopped at Team Charter Canvas for the 26-27 academic year.
We defined our team’s purpose. We found shared values and listed observable behaviors that support our values we would like to see in our team. We expressed needs and expectations among each other as we strive towards our shared goals. We inventoried our strengths and weaknesses. Finally, we did a reflective learning exercise to package all we experienced today.
Getting two or three student veterans from one school together for anything is challenging enough. Today however we were fortunate enough to get a squad sized element from THREE local SVA chapters to come and connect. “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”

Lest we forget.
Student Veterans of America and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society members at Bristol Community College flagged over 1000 graves including 5 Congressional Medal of Honor Society recipients across 2 days. This effort was part of the lead up to with the Fall River Veterans Services and shows the impact of collaboration among Bristol Students. 🇺🇸🌺

Today members of Student Veterans of America and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Bristol Community College placed more than 200 flags at veteran graves. All efforts to remember the names and lives of the veterans who went before us leading up to Memorial Day.
