That. Was. Epic. 🔥

First off, HUGE shoutout to the Rourke for hosting us and giving us the space to get absolutely crazy with this one!

But secondly, can we talk about what an absolute pleasure it was to link up with our friends across the river?! The Concordia Cobbers showed up in force with some beautiful matrices. We broke bread, got our hands dirty, and made some truly beautiful art.

Today was the perfect example of what being a creative community is all about. Watching the NDSU SoDAA first-years and the printmakers of Concordia come together, collaborate, and create something special was an experience in itself.

What a special week that was. ✨

You so rarely find such insight in an artist as young as Tyrel Iron Eyes. We want to give Tyrel a huge thank-you for coming to SoDAA and sharing that insight with our students. The artist talk, the exhibition, the critiques — all of it brought immeasurable value to our community.

A LITTLE LATE ON THIS ONE… (that darn social media manager can get a little busy from time to time 😅)

But I wanted to give a shoutout to AIGA Minnesota for opening their doors for their annual Design Camp and working with us to get some of our SoDAA design students in on the action!

Between featured speakers, a panel and Q&A, and studio tours, our students got a chance to learn from industry professionals, get a peek behind the scenes, and soak up some top-notch design knowledge.

We’re always grateful for opportunities like this that help our students connect with the broader design community. Thanks for having us, AIGA MN! 🙌

You read that right… 👀

It’s been established that we do exhibitions a little differently here at SoDAA, so why break tradition? Swing by the Rourke and check out the process as our Foundations class creates a series of large-scale prints using A STEAMROLLER! Because why not?! 🛞

Can’t make it out? No worries! You can swing by the Flakoll Gallery the following week to check out the finished prints on display!

Some help build the places that define a city.

NDSU graduate Mitchell Trageton's work helped shape the Las Vegas skyline. As senior vice president of architecture for Marnell Companies, the 1987 graduate has spent 39 years contributing to iconic properties, including the Mirage, Treasure Island, Bellagio and Wynn.

The adobe suite is impossible to master completely but I’ve picked up a couple tricks along the way and by request I’ve decided to share some neat ones on here for you the students. IT’S VISITING ARTIST SEASON! 🎨📸

And what better way to kick things off than by welcoming our inaugural 2026 Visiting Artist, photographer Tyrel Iron Eyes, to SoDAA!

Tyrel will be joining us for an artist talk before heading over to the Memorial Union Gallery to open his exhibition, (Un)disturbed: Use and Occupation , an exploration of ancestral territories, treaties, and boundaries.

This is how you kick off a Visiting Artist Series. 👏

Bring an open mind, bring your questions, and don’t be afraid to start a conversation. Most importantly, come celebrate one of our Herd for a night of art, ideas, and community.
