Dean Spade is coming to UMA March 12th!
Sticking Together in Tough Times
Wednesday, March 12⋅12:00 – 1:00pm
Online, Augusta Campus, and Bangor Campus (details in description)

Times are so tough. We're facing ramped up targeting of our communities on so many fronts, increasing political repression, worsening ecological crisis, rising rent and food prices, an ongoing pandemic, and so much more. How do we stick together during difficult times, choosing to care for each other and build resistance even under severe conditions? How do we focus on what we can do in our own communities rather than hoping that answers will come from politicians, billionaires, or big non-profits?

In this talk, Dean Spade, author of Mutual Aid: Building Solidarity During this Crisis (and the Next) and Love in a F*cked Up World: How to Build Relationships, Hook Up and Raise Hell, Together will talk about the kinds of bold, rule-breaking, risk-taking resistance that people are taking up to care for each other and save lives right now, and what it takes for us to show up for each other in this moment, even though organizing can be difficult.

This event is free and ONLINE but requires registration.

This move follows recent efforts by Gov. DeSantis to crack down on what he calls "woke indoctrination" in schools.
