Gala Recap!
Our very own co-advisor and Ph.D. Student in Agricultural Leadership, Wendell Scales Jr., was recognized by 40 under 40 class for his work with youth and workforce development. Wendell championed the FIRST JR MANRRS chapter in the state of Arkansas and has built partnerships across k-12, higher education institutions, and industry to strengthen Arkansas JR MANRRS and collegiate MANRRS chapters. We’re so grateful for and proud of your efforts !
Chetanjot Kaur Romana, Ph.D. Candidate in Food Science placed 2nd in one of the graduate oral presentation categories. This a special culmination, as Chetan’s last MANRRS conference and competition as a student. Congratulations, Chetan!
We snagged a shot with Dr. Deacue Fields, Vice President of Agriculture for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture (and former Dean of Bumpers College). Dr. Fields is a longstanding member of MANRRS and key supporter of our chapter.
Lastly, we celebrated with the Arkansas JR MANRRS chapter at Arkansas Lighthouse Charter Schools - not only is Lighthouse the inaugural Arkansas chapter, but this was the scholars’ first national conference (not pictured for the privacy of minors). We are SO proud of their showing up and engaging! Attendees were highly complimentary of their enthusiasm and professionalism as 6-12th graders.
As we close out the Leadership to Legacy chapter (video to come with our thoughts), considering how we build long-lasting impact, we are excited to think ahead for next year’s conference theme: Strong Roots, Bold Futures!
