Alumni Spotlight ⭐⭐⭐
We’re spotlight Dr. Bunmi O. Olatunji who earned his graduate training in Psychology at the University of Arkansas and is now the Gertrude Conaway Vanderbilt Professor of Psychology as well as the Director of Clinical Training at Vanderbilt University. 👏
Born in Nigeria and raised in Wisconsin, Dr. Olatunji received his BS in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. His time at UARK, working under the mentorship of Dr. Jeff Lohr, proved foundational in shaping his approach to research, teaching, and service that set the stage for his current impactful work at Vanderbilt.
"I chose to pursue a degree in Psychology because it is a very flexible degree with many options. Initially, I planned to become a therapist with a private practice for mood and anxiety disorders, but my graduate training at the University of Arkansas opened doors I hadn’t anticipated. Working with Jeff Lohr was easily one of the best decisions I made in my life. His mentorship has been central to my development as a researcher and educator."
Dr. Olatunji encourages undergraduate students to get hands-on experience in research labs to explore their interests and see psychology in action. His dedication to mentorship, research, and clinical training continues to inspire the next generation of psychologists. We are proud of his achievements and the impact he is making in the field!
