Supply Chain Innovation

Supply Chain Innovation My purpose for developing the SC Innovation Canvas was to develop a tool to assist supply-chain professionals in two ways.

This is the explainer video of the SC Innovation Canvas which is a tool that I have developed as part of my research efforts Innovation and Supply Chain Management. The SC Innovation Canvas is a tool to guide in the assessment of the impacts of your innovation in your supply chain. The other is to assist management in articulating the impacts of the innovation in terms that are meaningful to non-s

upply-chain professionals, that is, to top executives and to individuals from other corporate functions/backgrounds.

The following paragraph is a brief description of the context of the research project in Supply Chain Innovation.

*Technology Innovations Will Reshape Many [all] Supply Chains
The landscape in most industries is changing substantially. Technology innovation has been accelerating as a result of the exponential growth of computing power, enabling new products and services. New manufacturing technologies and information technology enable manufacturing and logistics innovations. Social trends influence consumer choices. Regulations and socio-political changes affect the competitive landscape of an industry or a region; pushing for upgrades in the supply chain. Social media provides immediate feedback of business [lack of] actions. For all these reasons, product life-cycle and innovation cycles have been shortening and are expected to continue do so. Regardless whether the innovation is market- or technology-driven, management needs to evaluate the degree of preparedness to cope with these challenges and, if necessary, reconfigure or adapt the supply chains to the new environment. As supply chains become increasingly more complex and operate at a faster pace, having tools to develop and communicate an integrated vision of the impacts of innovation in supply chain management becomes an organizational resource. The Supply Chain Innovation Canvas was design for this purpose.
