✨ ✨ ✨
Meet Gerson Fajardo-Bruhl a Ph.D. Biomedical Engineering student.
🎥 Check out our Q&A with him below:

🇭🇳What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you? ✨Hispanic Heritage Month means celebrating my cultural roots, sharing the richness of Hispanic and Latine cultures, and reflecting on the importance of diversity in my journey as a graduate student in biomedical engineering. It's a time to honor traditions, dispel stereotypes, and embrace my heritage proudly.

🇭🇳What are you most proud of about your culture?
✨ As someone with Hispanic heritage, I'm most proud of the strong sense of community and family values that are deeply ingrained in our culture. Hispanic culture places a high value on close-knit family bonds, support networks, and a strong sense of togetherness.

🌎 How has your culture influenced you to pursue engineering?

✨My Hispanic culture has provided me with a passion for innovation and a desire to make a meaningful impact on the world. It's taught me to appreciate the importance of overcoming adversity and to approach engineering challenges with resilience and determination. This cultural background has significantly shaped my decision to pursue a career in engineering and medicine, as I believe it aligns perfectly with my cultural values and aspirations.

🗒 Any advice for the next generations?
✨I would encourage Hispanic and Latino students to embrace their Hispanic and Latino identities with pride. The diversity we bring enriches the university experience, and we should never feel the need to hide their heritage. I have also found that it's crucial to seek out and connect with Hispanic and Latino student organizations and communities on campus.
