Interested in shaping the future of education? 🍎🌟

An upcoming event hosted in partnership with the Honors College - University of Arkansas will introduce students to our Department of Education Reform’s Ph.D. in Education Policy!

On Tuesday, Sept. 15, students will have the chance to ask questions and learn more about pursuing a doctoral degree in education policy and the doors it can open. The fully funded program helps students develop skills in data analysis, research, writing, presenting, and so much more!

Our own Dr. Carrie McDermott was recently named a fellow of the 2026 Southeastern Conference Academic Leadership Development Program! ✨

Dr. McDermott is an accomplished scholar and serves as the Executive Director of our Eleanor Mann School of Nursing. Throughout the program, she will collaborate with colleagues from across the SEC, attend conference-wide workshops to strengthen leadership skills, and engage in other professional development opportunities.

The four-day conference in Portland, Oregon, brought together thousands of attendees and prospective students from across the country. Career and Technical Education student Kylie Turbeville also took home first place in a national public speaking competition! 🏆

In the 2025-26 academic year, 1,649 of our students participated in internships and clinical experiences, engaging with 1,353 schools, hospitals, nonprofits, and community organizations across the country.

Our own Dr. Megan Rosa-Caldwell was recently in the news discussing a new multi-million-dollar grant supporting the university’s Arkansas Integrative Metabolic Research Center! 🧬🔬

The $11.2 million grant will support Dr. Rosa-Caldwell and several other researchers as they work to deepen our understanding of the role of cell and tissue metabolism in disease, human development, and repair processes.

Given to just 10 researchers in the field each year, the award is designed to strengthen support for early-career faculty members and their academic research. Dr. Garcia-Salas’ research focuses on family-centered approaches to supporting children’s language and literacy development.
