A distinguished alumna is returning to the University of Arkansas School of Law. Katheleen Guzman has been appointed interim dean, effective July 1. Guzman earned both her bachelor's degree and J.D. from the U of A and brings over 30 years of experience in legal education and academic leadership.

Former University of Oklahoma College of Law Dean Katheleen Guzman will begin her two-year appointment July 1. Guzman earned a B.A. with honors from the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences and a J.D. with highest honors from the U of A School of Law.

The University of Arkansas is proud to announce the Southwestern Electric Power Company - SWEPCO Foundation as the inaugural corporate sponsor of the first cohort of the Land of Opportunity Scholars, who will arrive on campus in fall 2026.

The Land of Opportunity Scholarship helps bridge the gap between financial aid and the cost of tuition, fees and housing for high-achieving Arkansas students with financial need.

In addition to financial support, scholars receive mentorship, academic coaching, financial planning and access to opportunities like undergraduate research, study abroad and internships with Arkansas companies like SWEPCO.

The program expects to serve approximately 100 students in its first cohort, creating meaningful opportunity in communities across the state. Arkansas Alumni Association
