Hey Oilers - Let's keep healthy! Wear a face covering in all classrooms, hallways, offices, public spaces, and common areas. Also wear them in outdoor settings if safe physical distancing (at least six feet) is not possible.

Reminder, our hours have changed this semester. You can always find today's building hours at the top of the library's website. We also have a listing of exceptions identifying when the building is closed due to holidays on our website.

We know you know, but please remember to wear a mask when you come into and use the library this semester. Library and ITS staff have to wear face coverings too. Our masks protect you. Your mask protects us.

You will experience some changes to Shafer Library this semester. These changes are in place to maintain a healthy environment for you to study as part of the Oiler Start Safe and Stay Safe plan.

Here is what you can expect:

*Reduced seating capacity on every floor with only one person per table.

*Most study rooms are one person. Four study rooms can seat two people. All are still first come and for three hours.

*Two disinfecting stations on every floor.

*Water bottle filling station installed in Learning Commons near the OneButton Studios. All other drinking fountains removed.

*Library will close at 10 pm Sunday-Thursday.

Below is a break down of reduced seating capacity by floor:

Second Floor
68 seats at open tables and study carrels
7 in one person study rooms
4 in two study rooms for two people

First Floor
13 in Guyer Lounge
31 in Learning Commons
8 at individual computers

Lower Floor
29 seats at open tables and study carrels
8 in one person individual study rooms
4 in two study rooms for two people

Information Technology Services (ITS) is hosting Oiler Tech Connect, dedicated to assisting students, faculty, and staff with your technology needs at the start of the semester. ITS will be available to help with your account, email, networking, Canvas, Zoom, Microsoft Office, printing on campus, gaming devices/streaming devices, and any other technology needs.
