Jamaican AIM Alumni Scholarship - JAAS

Jamaican AIM Alumni Scholarship - JAAS The JA-AIM Alumni scholarship is geared towards assisting primarily aspiring lower sixth form inner-city students with funding their career exploration.

The Jamaica AIM Alumni Scholarship (JAAS) is the brainchild of a group of former JPS Academically Interested Minds (AIM) scholarship recipients. The AIM program is a five week residential pre-college summer program at Kettering University, located in Flint, Michigan USA. The program seeks to expose high school students, in their penultimate year, to life as a college student. As a result, the prog

ram attracts multi-national students from all across the Unites States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. The program is free of cost to the student, as corporate sponsors absorb the program cost. In recent years, the level of Jamaican Corporation sponsorship for students has evaporated thereby eliminating the participation of Jamaican student(s) in the program. Consequently, a group of former Jamaican AIM participants, who later earned degrees from Kettering University, established this scholarship in 2013 to recommence Jamaicans participation in the program. The first recipient of this scholarship will participate in the AIM 2014 program.
