UM-Flint Student Veterans Resource Center

UM-Flint Student Veterans Resource Center Online meetings are available. Use the form at https://www.umflint.edu/svrc. In addition to our services, we also have a student veterans lounge.

The SVRC at the University of Michigan-Flint is a space for student veterans to access resources, enjoy the company of other student veterans, hold meetings, and study. Our philosophy is one of respect, appreciation, inclusiveness, and recognition that veterans have concerns and experiences that differ from those of typical college student. The Student Veterans Resource Center, located in 131 Univ

ersity Pavilion, provides services for service members and veterans, as well as their spouses and dependents. Our staff is available to assist with academic, financial, and transition support services, including information regarding use of VA Educational Benefits. We have a wide network both on and off campus for referrals to a wide variety of services and programs. The lounge area is home to three computer stations and printer, and space to study and socialize while on campus. Services include:
• Assistance with the admission application process
• Review of military transfer credit recommendations
• Information about using financial aid
• Assistance using VA Educational Benefits or Tuition Assistance programs
• Scholarship opportunities
• Support to student veterans organizations and community involvement

Student Veterans and Alumni! Genesee County Department of Veterans Services is looking for volunteers to assist with the Moving Wall. If interested, please reach out to them directly!

🇺🇸 The Vietnam Moving Wall is Coming to Genesee County 🇺🇸

Genesee County Department of Veterans Services is proud to partner with Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 175 to bring the Vietnam Moving Wall to Bluebell Beach this summer. This powerful traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial carries the names of more than 58,000 service members who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War.

This partnership reflects our shared commitment to ensuring that our Vietnam Veterans and the families of the fallen are never forgotten. The Moving Wall offers our community a chance to reflect, remember, and pay tribute in a meaningful and personal way, right here at home.

We invite residents, veterans, families, and community members to visit Bluebell Beach this summer to experience this moving tribute and stand together in honor of those who served.

We are currently seeking volunteers to help with setting up and dismantling the Wall, as well as volunteers to assist during visiting hours. This is a meaningful opportunity to serve those who served and to support our local Vietnam veterans and Gold Star families.

If you are interested in volunteering or would like to become a sponsor, please contact Bill Smith at 810-348-3188.

9/11/2001. We must NEVER forget. Many of our students enlisted or re-enlisted BECAUSE of 9/11/2001. We thank you sincerely for your dedication, and we are always here for you.

Today, we pause to reflect, remember and honor the memory of those we lost, and in gratitude to those who courageously responded. Twenty-four years ago and it still seems like only yesterday.
