Did you know Charles Darwin used to track plant movement by looking through a plate of glass and marking positions every 20 minutes? Professor Rob Carter from UM-Flint's Department of Art and Art History at CASE was so inspired by this that he created an art project combining Darwin's original method with modern time-lapse photography. His work is a perfect example of how the history of technology and creativity intersect at CIT and CASE.

🚨 Registration is open for Cybersecurity Horizons 2026, UM-Flint's third-annual cybersecurity symposium!

Join us on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 10:30 AM - 5:00 PM at the Gloria Coles Flint Public Library (C.S. Mott Foundation Community Room).

Don't miss our featured panel, “Deepfakes & Democracy: Real Threat or Overhyped Fear?”, which brings together experts in technology, media, law, and public policy to examine the real risks and realities behind AI-generated political content. Panelists will explore how deepfakes are used in election contexts, whether they truly sway voters, how they contribute to misinformation and polarization, and what safeguards can strengthen democratic resilience.

Designed for Democracy Week, this event will encourage critical thinking rather than panic, equipping participants with the knowledge to assess risks, ask better questions, and play an informed role in protecting electoral integrity.

Ready to improve your networking skills? Join us for the Fall CIT Career Fair on October 7 from 12:30–3:30 p.m. in the Riverfront Conference Center!

The Career Fair is a great opportunity to connect with industry professionals and practice your networking skills. Keep these four tips in mind when talking with employers:

1. Start the Conversation: Introduce yourself with confidence by sharing your name and major. Offer a firm handshake and ask at least one question about the company to show your interest.

2. Connect on LinkedIn: Staying connected is the best way to secure opportunities in the future! Ask to connect with the employer on LinkedIn before leaving the table. When sending your request, mention it was great meeting them at the Career Fair.

3. Follow up with an Email: Make sure to get a good email address to contact them with any further questions. Send a thank you email within 24 hours of the event to express your interest in the opportunity or company.

4. Thank Them for Their Time: End every conversation on a positive note with a thank you! Offer your resume if appropriate and take any resources they provide.
