Conference Theme
Partnering for Prevention: Campus + Community Impact
Su***de is the second leading cause of death among college students. Increasing awareness and access to mental health and su***de prevention services both on and off campus are essential to student wellness and su***de reduction.
We invite research and practice-based presentations that strengthen awareness, prevention, and support systems.

Suggested Presentation Topics
• Supporting populations at increased risk for suicidal behaviors
• Strengthening protective factors and reducing access to lethal means
• Increasing awareness of help-seeking behaviors by development and implementation of techniques to reduce stigma associated with mental health concerns

• Connecting students with community-based mental health resources
• Implementing gatekeeper trainings (QPR, Campus Connect, Mental Health First Aid)
• Identifying effective treatment aimed at addressing co-occurring disorders such as with the intersection of su***de and mental illness with substance use

• Developing institutional protocols for students in crisis with community partnerships
• Su***de risk assessment and screening practices
• Creating a campus-wide culture of wellness
• Building interdisciplinary prevention teams on and off campus
• Postvention strategies
• Clinical approaches to su***de prevention
