Effective today, 31 Dec 2022 I am officially retired. I have enjoyed my time working with Veterans and their dependents at UNA and wish everyone the very best.

All GI Bill recipients that submitted their required documentation prior to 29 Dec 2022 were certified to the VA. For others and/or future terms/semesters, the Office of Enrollment Management within Academic Affairs (Provost) will assume School Certifying Official responsibilities. They can be reached at [email protected]

I was assured that the Military Veterans Support Center (MVSC) will remain open and within the Division of Student Affairs, but direct management/supervision to be determined.

Pretty proud to work with some great folks on the UNA COVID19 Recovery Task Force. While not perfect considering all of the unknowns, I think we have a good evidenced based plan - grounded in science that considers the full scope of the situation as we know it.

On Saturday, March 21, 2020, the President signed into law: S. 3503, which clarifies how the Department of Veterans Affairs should treat in-person courses of study that convert to distance learning formats due to health-related situations and other emergencies.

FYI

GI Bill recipients rely on monthly stipends from the Department of Veterans Affairs to pay for housing, food and other bills. Those payments are higher for students who attend physical classes as opposed to online coursework.

Dr Ryan was my Major Professor and Dissertation Chair, Jeff is also a a retired Army LTC and worked on these issues in the military. This is a great primer and source of reliable information.
