If you are an alumni of Pacific’s Exercise Science program, a former student-athlete at Pacific, or just a supporter of us and our students…please consider donating to a wonderful new scholarship that will help support future students in our program. The scholarship has been created to honor someone who has been extremely influential in the development of both the Exercise Science and Athletics programs at Pacific over the past 50 years. The Judy Sherman Exercise Science Endowed Scholarship will support a deserving female student studying exercise science/kinesiology, and will honor Judy’s contribution to student athletes at Pacific.
Coach Sherman served and excelled in numerous roles during her time at Pacific, including coaching a generation of students in softball, serving as head coach for women’s basketball, volleyball and field hockey, and leading Boxer teams to six conference championships and seven national tournaments. As director of athletics from 1992 to 2004, she oversaw the expansion of the athletic center and added six new varsity teams. Judy also played a crucial role in the 1995 origination and development of the Exercise Science Department, formally the Department of Physical Education and Health (and soon to be Department of Kinesiology). Judy had a vision of a strong, science-based program for those interested in human movement and fought to make that vision a reality. Due in part to her early leadership and support, exercise science has become a hallmark program at Pacific, leading almost 50 students each year to careers in healthcare, athletics, education, fitness and industry. Her leadership has had a tremendous impact on our students and has brought national and regional attention to the work we do at Pacific University.
Please consider making a gift to the Judy Sherman Exercise Science Endowed Scholarship. Your donation will help support a deserving female student studying exercise science/kinesiology and honor Judy’s outstanding contribution Pacific student-athletes.
