Dear alumni, industry partners, and friends - Come celebrate with us!
It's not too late to register!

The countdown is on for the CSU Construction Management 80th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, October 17. We invite all CSU CM alumni, industry partners, and friends of the department to join us to reconnect, explore the department’s facilities, and celebrate both the proud legacy and exciting future of CSU CM.

The celebration will begin with an open house in our buildings with tours, games, and other events from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., followed by a reception at Canvas Stadium from 4 to 7 p.m. You do not need to attend the entire program; registered attendees are welcome to come and go as their schedules allow during both the open house and reception.

Mark your calendars, Ram Built Nation — catch us on Saturday, September 12 for our CM Ag Day Tailgate 🏈

Join us in cheering on the Rams against Southern Utah at this year's Ag Day football game as we revive a CM tradition for our 80th Anniversary! The tailgate will be located at the Intramural Fields Ram Walk Tailgate area near the Nutrien Ag Day BBQ from 1-4:30 p.m.

Whether you're a student, faculty, staff, alumni, or an industry partner, we hope to see you there sporting your Aggie Orange and CM Ram pride 🟠🏗️

Details:

When you head toward the intersection of Meridian Avenue and Hughes Way, the tailgate location will be just north of Hughes Way, and the best entrance will be along the east perimeter from the sidewalk on Meridian Avenue.

We will also have CM signs and banners to help you find us! We will provide complimentary drink tickets to our guests, along with snacks and soda. There will also be food trucks and the famous Nutrien Ag Day BBQ nearby 🍔

Building knowledge one country at a time 🏗️🌎

This summer, our CM Rams traveled through Germany, France, Belgium, and Luxembourg, experiencing the region by rail and exploring some of Europe’s most significant cultural and historic landmarks from the Cologne Cathedral to the Belfry of Bruges!

Through site visits and discussions, students dug into topics like historical preservation, sustainability, and circular economy principles, laying the foundation for a deeper understanding of how the built environment connects people, places, and history!

As the fall semester gets rolling, we're reflecting on the summer internship our CM Ram Nishi Chaudhary completed with AD Miller in Centennial, CO!

Q: How are you applying what you've learned from your studies to this summer experience?
A: My coursework gave me the technical foundation. Preparing hard bid packages and reviewing subcontractor scopes feels like a real-world extension of what I learned about estimating and scope definition. Communication has tied everything together. Leadership roles and volunteer work at CSU helped me build the skills I now use every day; leading preconstruction meetings, writing clear meeting minutes, coordinating with subcontractors, and sharing field observations.

Q: What is your favorite part about your summer experience?
A: My favorite part has been the chance to work in both preconstruction and project engineering. Seeing both sides has given me a much better understanding of the project lifecycle than either role alone could. The team has made a huge difference too. It is a close-knit group, and that support has meant a lot, especially as an international student learning the U.S. construction industry.

Q: What communities or groups of people do you hope to impact in your eventual career and life?
A: I want to make a meaningful impact for women and international students in construction. Both groups are still underrepresented, and I have experienced what it is like to navigate a new country and a new industry at the same time in a field that has traditionally been male-dominated.

I hope to make that journey a little easier for those who come after me, whether through mentorship or simply by showing that these spaces are for us too. I have learned how much a supportive environment can shape someone’s confidence and growth, and I want to help create that for others.

Meet CSU Construction Management Ram, Christian Nazario, who is building his future this summer with JE Dunn Construction 🏗️🤝

Following in the footsteps of his dad, a CSU Construction Management alum, Christian chose CSU for its strong industry connections, hands-on learning opportunities, and nationally recognized program. Now, he’s putting that education into practice as a Project Engineer Intern on the CSU Veterinary Health and Education Complex project.

From processing submittals and RFIs to coordinating punch walks, tracking change orders, and managing closeout documentation, Christian is gaining firsthand experience in what it takes to deliver a major construction project.

Q: How are you applying what you’ve learned from your studies to this summer experience?
A: My coursework has given me a strong foundation in project management, scheduling, estimating, and construction operations. Throughout my internship, I’ve been able to apply those concepts in a real-world setting while also improving my communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills through daily interactions with project teams, owners, and trade partners.

Q: What is your favorite part about your summer experience?
A: My favorite part has been seeing how many different people and specialties come together to complete a project. It’s rewarding to contribute to a facility that will support education, research, and veterinary care for years to come while learning from experienced professionals in the industry.

Q: What communities or groups of people do you hope to impact in your eventual career and life?
A: I hope to positively impact students, local communities, and future generations by helping deliver projects that create opportunities for learning, healthcare, research, and community growth. I also hope to mentor students who are interested in construction and help them pursue successful careers in the industry.

The CSU Department of Construction Management hosted its 2026 Construction Management Summer Institute in June, hosting 26 high school students from all over – Texas to Colorado and DC to California! During their five-day four-night stay on campus, they engaged with professionals representing construction-related industries to learn about construction management and related careers and had loads of fun exploring construction-related topics, tools, materials, and activities!

Four members of the faculty were recognized for their contributions:
