Tonight our Paramedic students welcomed guest speaker ARCH Paramedic Nick Toornstra from Mary Greeley Medical Center for our Behavioral Health Simulation Night.

Nick shared information about the services ARCH provides throughout the Ames community and discussed the importance of behavioral health resources, support systems, and connecting individuals with the care they need. As future EMS professionals, understanding the role of behavioral health and community resources is an important part of providing patient-centered care.

Thank you, Nick, for spending the evening with our students and sharing your expertise and bringing Archie, Nick’s canine crisis dog! He was a wonderful addition to the night and a hit with our students. 🐾

Who says Anatomy & Physiology has to be boring? 🫀🫁🧠

Today’s EMT class worked in groups to review and teach different body systems from our Anatomy & Physiology chapter. Building a strong foundation in A&P is essential for understanding patient care, and these students did a fantastic job sharing their knowledge.

Today for EMS Week, we recognize the importance of EMS Education: The foundation of every confident provider, calm decision, and life-saving intervention. 🚑📚

Behind every EMS provider is a team of instructors, preceptors, mentors, and training officers dedicated to preparing the next generation of EMS professionals. From the classroom and skills lab to clinicals and field experiences, EMS education never stops.

At Iowa Central, we are proud to help train future providers who will serve their communities with knowledge, compassion, and professionalism. Thank you to all EMS educators who continue to invest their time, experience, and passion into this profession.

And to our students; keep pushing forward. The work you put in today will make a difference in someone’s worst moment tomorrow.

Please take this opportunity to go out and meet the dedicated EMS providers in your community!
