Meet Ben Noland, a previous EMT student who is now an EMT instructor here at Iowa Central.

Ben first became a firefighter before pursuing his EMT certification to expand his ability to provide care during emergency calls. Today, he’s using that experience to train and prepare the next generation of EMS professionals.

From student to instructor, Ben’s journey reflects the impact of education, experience, and a commitment to serving others. 🚨🚑

🚑 EMT & Paramedic Students Working Together!

Tonight, our Paramedic students had the opportunity to work with our EMT students by giving them a tour of a Fort Dodge Fire Department ambulance!

This was a great chance for our EMT students to get familiar with an ambulance, learn where equipment is located, and hear directly from students who are further along in their EMS education. It’s always great to see our classes working together, sharing what they’ve learned, and helping prepare the next group of EMS professionals.

A huge thank you to the Fort Dodge Fire Department for providing an ambulance for our students to tour and for your continued support of EMS education at Iowa Central! 🚒🚑

Meet Brandt Lawler, a senior at Fort Dodge Senior High.

"As a senior in high school, everyone’s biggest question is ‘What’s next?’. Becoming an EMT has given me purpose and the motivation to continue my education and become a paramedic.”

Brandt is already putting his training into action, working as an EMT with the Otho Fire Department and completing an internship at UnityPoint Health Trinity Regional Medical Center. His dedication to helping others and commitment to emergency medical services is helping shape his future.

We’re proud to support students like Brandt as they gain valuable experience and serve their communities. 🚨🚑

🚑 Bringing new technology into the classroom!

Our EMS Coordinator had the opportunity to attend the NAEMSE Conference and get hands-on with the IntuBlade video laryngoscope!

After research and trying it out, we were impressed enough to bring a few into our program. We’re excited to let our students get hands-on experience with this technology and see how it can enhance their airway management training.

We’re not sponsored or partnered with IntuBlade. Just excited educators who found a piece of equipment we think will be a fun and valuable addition to our program! 👏🚑

We can’t wait to put these to work in our labs and see what our students think!

This is what our mission looks like in action.

After approving Iowa Central Community College’s Emergency Medical Technician program as the nation’s first Workforce Pell Grant program, U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon, Acting Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling, and Governor Kim Reynolds got an up-close look at the hands-on training that prepares our students to answer the call.

From simulation equipment to real-world emergency scenarios, Iowa Central’s EMS programs give students the skills and experience they need to serve their communities—and build a better life.

We’re proud to show what hands-on, career-focused education looks like at Iowa Central and grateful to the leaders and partners who are helping create more opportunities for our students.
