👏Kudos to Karee Thibeault, MHA, BSN, RN, provider relations liaison lead, for being honored with our Heart of the Mission award! ❤️

An extraordinary colleague, Karee goes above and beyond to support her team, leadership, patients, referral accounts, and all those around her, every day. Her approach to new situations and challenges is always constructive, weighing the possibilities, and trialing ways to move forward with workable solutions.

Karee was asked to consider traveling south to cover some days at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. Of course she said, "Yes!" While there, she encountered things she had not done before, helped lost families down hallways she had never traveled and met patients at bedside in situations they have never been in before.

Thank you, Karee, for your positivity, commitment to patient care, ability to break down barriers, willingness to try new things, and your dedication to our mission!

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Stéphanie Landry is now serving on the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands’ Silvicultural Advisory Committee! 🌲🍂

The advisory committee plays a vital role in reviewing silvicultural practices on Maine’s Public Reserved Lands—balancing timber management, wildlife habitat, and forest health. Having our faculty involved in state-level advisory roles ensures our university stays at the forefront of sustainable land management while giving our students direct insight into real-world forestry governance.

Dr. Landry recently joined the committee for its annual two-day field tour in the Millinocket region this past August, where experts evaluated active silvicultural treatments, reviewed forest management practices on the ground, and provided critical feedback to state field staff.

The University of Maine at Fort Kent Athletics Offers Action-Packed Co-ed Bengal Soccer Camp

The University of Maine at Fort Kent Athletic Department welcomes young soccer enthusiasts for a Bengal Co-ed Soccer Camp at the Michael Simon Soccer Field, offering players the opportunity to develop their skills in a fun and supportive environment.

The camp will run from Monday, July 20 through Thursday, July 23. Registration is open to all students entering grades pre-K through 12.

The cost is $50 per child per camp (pre-K through Grade 1) and $100 per child per camp (Grade 2 through Grade 12). Session for pre-K through Grade 1 will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., session for Grade 2 through Grade 8 will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. and session for Grade 9 through Grade 12 will be held from 3 to 5 p.m.

Sessions will accommodate all skill levels through a week of intense and enjoyable training. The camp will focus on small-sided games to allow players to apply lessons learned to real-game scenarios and to develop a better awareness of the sport.

UMFK coaching staff and collegiate players will teach individual techniques, ball mastery, 1v1 attacking and defending, and team concepts. Training will include rondos, small-sided games, and full scrimmages to build vision, quick decision-making, and positional understanding.

Participants are asked to bring along cleats, a water bottle, shin guards, and sneakers, in case inclement weather forces the camp indoors.

The summer camps continue to be popular with both residents and visitors who spend their summers in the St. John Valley.
