Join the Movement. Wear Denim. Raise Awareness.

On this Denim Day, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. continues its legacy of advocacy by using our voices to support survivors and challenge the harmful myths surrounding sexual violence.

Why Denim?�The campaign began after a 1999 Italian Supreme Court ruling overturned a r**e conviction because the victim was wearing tight jeans. The justices claimed that because the jeans were so tight, the victim must have helped remove them—implying consent. The next day, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans in protest, and a movement was born.

Since then, Denim Day has become a powerful annual tradition where people wear jeans to stand in solidarity with survivors and challenge victim-blaming attitudes.
