On March 17, 1917, five courageous women attending New York University School of Law could not find a membership accepting of all backgrounds. So they formed Delta Phi Epsilon with the purpose of accepting all races and religions–one of the first non-sectarian, social sororities to do so. Since our founding nearly 100 years ago, we have grown into a thriving organization with over 67,000 initiated

members and chapters located across the United States and Canada. Our mission is to provide a sisterhood experience rich with tradition, innovation and opportunities for growth. Our motto is "Esse Quam Videri" - To be rather than to seem to be. You don't have to be anyone else to be in Delta Phi Epsilon. Your sisters will always stand behind you and support you in anything you decide to do or be. Our official jewel is the pearl. The greek alphabet letters of Delta Phi Epsilon are ΔΦΕ. The letter for delta is commonly seen as a triangle. This has extra significance to our members as the equilateral triangle is our symbol. Seen as a symbol of what is good and pure in the world, the unicorn is our official mascot.
