Last winter break of high school and it still doesn’t feel real.

Senior year has been such a wild mix of bowling, school, and big decisions, and now tournament season is right around the corner so it’s almost time to trade sleep-ins for early mornings at the lanes. I’m excited to lace up, compete hard, and enjoy every frame of this last high school run.

College updates: your girl has been accepted to more schools than she ever dreamed of, and I’m still kind of in shock about it. Oregon, Cal Poly, Ottawa, Oral Roberts, Oklahoma, and Pittsburgh are all high on my list, and choosing just one might be harder than any tournament pattern.

There’s also a surprise grad trip coming that I *still* don’t know the destination for, which is low‑key stressing me out but in a good way. I’m nervous, curious, and already trying to guess what’s packed into this next adventure.

The hardest part in all of this is realizing that soon it’ll be time to leave home and leave mom, and that thought definitely hits different. It makes me sad, but it also makes me even more determined to make her proud and to step into this next chapter with courage, gratitude, and a whole lot of heart.

Hey everyone! 🎉 it’s been a while. I’ve been super busy as a senior in high school but it’s all going up from here. I have something to say, family.

🙏🏾
I just wanted to share some exciting news — I’ve been accepted into Oral Roberts University in Oklahoma!

This is such a big step for me as I consider my future and the path I want to take.

I’ve always admired how ORU emphasizes faith, community, and personal growth, and I’m really contemplating this next chapter.

I’m so grateful for all the love and support from my mom and Aunt Jelema along the way.

Whatever I decide, I know this opportunity has opened doors for new experiences and growth.
Thanks for celebrating with me and for always believing in me. Love you all! 💙✨

hi 👋🏽 friends its Jayla

❤️ I’m getting ready for cheerleading practice, but I wanted to say something because I just saw my sister in the hallway and had a thought …

❤️ I won’t see her in the hallways next year …

❤️.. she won’t see me

🙏🏾 Starting college isn’t just a big change for the student—it can shift family dynamics too, especially between siblings. When an older sister leaves for campus, a younger sibling might miss their role model, best friend, or everyday support system. On the flip side, older sisters often feel the pull between embracing independence and staying connected back home.
If you or your sibling are navigating this, you’re not alone.

❤️Many families experience these emotional transitions, and there are resources to help:
• Campus Counseling Centers often offer workshops on family transitions and can share strategies for easing the shift.
• Sibling Support Groups & Forums online connect families going through similar experiences.
• Writing Letters or Scheduling Calls can help maintain a strong bond, giving both siblings something to look forward to.
• Family Education Programs at many colleges provide guidance for parents and siblings on how to stay connected and supportive.
• Local Community Centers or Youth Programs can offer mentorship opportunities for younger siblings to build new connections at home.

🎉Remember, college is about growth—not distance. Maintaining open communication, celebrating milestones together, and finding new ways to support one another helps keep the sister bond strong, no matter the miles in between
