Congratulations to Kirk Sharp and the Gordon Parks Museum on two outstanding honors!

Sharp was recently recognized with the City of Fort Scott Mayor’s Citizenship Award for his dedication to preserving local history, promoting the legacy of Gordon Parks and making a lasting impact on the Fort Scott community.

The Gordon Parks Museum has also been selected as a recipient of the 2026 American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) Award of Excellence for the Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church Commemorative Park Project. The national award recognizes excellence in preserving and interpreting state and local history and is considered one of the highest honors in the field.

These recognitions reflect years of hard work, vision and commitment to education, history and community engagement. Fort Scott Community College is proud to celebrate Kirk Sharp, the Gordon Parks Museum and everyone who helped make these achievements possible.

Adam was a well-respected, kind, and caring man who served our campus with professionalism and genuine concern for others. Adam consistently went above and beyond in providing excellent service to our students, faculty, staff, and guests. His positive attitude, willingness to help, and commitment to making FSCC a better place will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
