To Our Fraternity Community,
We, as sorority women at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, take the health and safety of our members and local community seriously. Due to the current climate around COVID-19 and the reopening of college campuses across the nation, the Panhellenic community of UAFS would like to state that we do not condone, nor will we tolerate, members of our Greek communities hosting parties amid a global pandemic. We stand firmly on the side of health, respect and responsibility. The reckless behavior shown by some fraternity members not only puts the health and safety of their local communities at risk, but endangers the women of our Panhellenic organizations and our potential new members.
Panhellenic chapters are working hard to educate our own members and hold them accountable for their actions that may put our community at risk. We expect and trust that our fraternity leaders take these same actions.
We expect that our fraternity chapters abide by the rules of the CDC, university, state and IFC guidelines to best protect our community. We support the current expectations set by the Interfraternity Council in reference to chapter and members conduct regarding off campus, unregistered parties. We believe that these expectations will help to protect the women in our organizations as well as our campus and local community.
As values based organizations, we hope to work together as a fraternity and sorority community to keep our lion pride safe.
Panhellenically,
Panhellenic Council and Sorority Chapter Presidents
