🔧 Hands-on training for a high-demand career field!

At Okaloosa Technical College, our Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration 1 & 2 students are building the technical skills needed to install, service, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC and refrigeration systems.

From learning the tools of the trade to preparing for industry certifications like EPA 608 and ESCO ER-AC, this program gives students real experience for real career opportunities in residential and commercial HVAC.

Whether it’s heating, cooling, refrigeration, or system maintenance, OTC helps students gain the knowledge and confidence to step into the field ready to work.

The Carpentry & Building Trades program provides hands-on training in real construction environments, teaching essential skills like framing, measuring, tool usage, blueprint reading, and job site safety. Students gain practical experience working on real projects, preparing them for careers in residential and commercial construction.

A standout part of the program is the opportunity to design and build fully functional tiny homes from start to finish. These homes are then sold or auctioned—giving buyers the chance to purchase high-quality, student-built homes while students gain real-world experience, build a strong portfolio, and understand the business side of construction.

Graduates leave with the skills and confidence to step directly into the workforce or continue advancing in the building trades industry.

Start in IT. Build into Cybersecurity. 💻🔐

The Computer Systems & Information Technology (CSIT) program prepares students for careers in IT support through hands-on training in hardware, software, troubleshooting, and device repair. Students also gain foundational knowledge in networking, operating systems, and security, with the final portion of the program focused on networking skills.

CSIT is the first step toward the Applied Cybersecurity program, where students learn to protect systems and networks through real-world security concepts, threat detection, and response strategies.

Students can also prepare for the globally recognized CompTIA Security+ certification, opening the door to strong career opportunities in cybersecurity.
