Thirty years after stepping away from college to launch a successful career in television production, Tim Bristol is completing the degree he left behind.

In 1992, Bristol accepted a producer position before graduating, beginning a career that would span more than three decades and include 12 years with CBS Sports. Following the loss of his wife, Heidi, who encouraged him to finish his education, he made a commitment to return to school and earn his bachelor's degree.

Now an Indiana Tech communications student, Bristol combines decades of industry experience with a passion for learning and mentorship. He is actively involved in the Smaardyk Center Multimedia Studio, where he assists students and faculty with multimedia projects while continuing to work in television production.

Bristol's journey reflects the value of lifelong learning and demonstrates that educational goals don't have an expiration date. Whether starting fresh or returning after decades away, his story is proof that it is never too late to invest in your future.

A successful career doesn't always follow a traditional path. For Indiana Tech alumna Ryen Brumbeloe ('15, MBA '17), decades of healthcare leadership experience, combined with a desire to keep growing professionally, ultimately led her to entrepreneurship.

While working full-time in the healthcare industry, Brumbeloe earned both her bachelor's degree and MBA from Indiana Tech. Along the way, she developed a broader understanding of strategy, marketing, leadership and cross-functional collaboration, lessons she says continue to influence her work today.

In January 2026, she founded Waymark Strategy Partners, a consulting firm that helps organizations design customer experiences that support long-term business growth. The venture builds on more than 25 years of experience helping healthcare organizations improve operations and outcomes.

Brumbeloe's story highlights the value of lifelong learning and how investing in education can provide the confidence and skills needed to pursue new opportunities, no matter where you are in your career.
