We are so excited to welcome Dr. Roger David to PFW as the new Director of Choral Studies as Visiting Assistant Professor! Go Dons!

The PFW College of Visual and Performing Arts is thrilled to announce that Dr. Roger David has accepted the position of Director of Choral Studies in the School of Music. Please join us in giving him a warm Mastodon welcome!

Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Dr. David is a music educator and recent graduate of Michigan State University, where he completed a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting and was a recipient of a University Distinguished Fellowship. During his time at MSU, he served as assistant conductor for The Singing Spartans and Campus Choir and assisted with undergraduate courses in choral conducting and choral pedagogy. His research interests include culturally-informed teaching and rehearsal processes, conductor-teacher leadership styles, and choral music from the Philippines.

Outside of teaching, he enjoys eating Korean barbecue with friends and tending his houseplants!

Our three choirs had an excellent final rehearsal Wednesday evening for tonight's concert, "From Sea to Shining Sea: Choral Music of the United States." It begins at 7:30 p.m. in Auer Auditorium. The ticket office line can be long, so we suggest arriving early to reduce the risk of missing the first song. It will be the final PFW concert for our director, Dr. William Sauerland, because he has accepted a new position in California. We hope you will attend this wonderful concert!

04/21/2026

After seven years of choral leadership at PFW, Dr. Sauerland has accepted the position of Associate Professor of Music Education at Chapman University. Let's all help find a new, wonderful choral director for the 2026-2027 school year.
