WELCOME
The Tom Brown/Pete Wright Community offers many of the comforts of apartment-style living with the convenience of being located on campus. Opened in January 1999, the community includes six small residence halls - Britain, Fish, Herndon, Mabee, Mullins, and Walker - housing approximately 50 students each. Each apartment consists of four private bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living area and a
kitchen. The apartment is furnished, and the kitchen is equipped with full-size appliances including a microwave, a dishwasher, a refrigerator and a stove. The living area and bedrooms have cable TV, telephone and internet access. HISTORY
The original Tom Brown Hall, completed in the fall of 1947, was the earliest of three buildings named in honor of Tom "Coca-Cola" Brown. The bottling company executive was an enthusiastic follower of TCU's athletic fortunes and was a loyal supporter of the University. His name remains a symbol of grateful recognition of the exceptional roll he played at TCU. Pete"- letterman, alumnus, athletic director, treasurer of the University, business manager, trustee - was a rare species with no known enemies. He was associated with TCU for over 68 years. He graduated from the University's baccalaureate program in 1910 in Waco, having distinguished himself as a tackle on the early Frog football teams. After graduating, he was associated with Dan Rogers in the Dallas banking business until 1922, when he accepted a call back to the campus, now in Fort Worth, as athletic director. Pete" was appointed business manager and treasurer and wisely managed TCU's business affairs until his retirement in 1955. He served on the Board of Trustees from 1957 until his death in 1972.
