Dearest Seniors (and Senioritas),
My phone reminded me about an hour ago that it was time for photos on the quad...and it all got very real...again. You see, this has been everything but emotionally neutral for all of us. I care. We care. Otherwise it wouldn't matter. But, it does matter...a lot. This morning I am thinking of all the hugs that would have happened, smiles exchanged, handshakes, high fives, shouts of joy from the grandstands as each name is called out, fear and trembling in the hearts of all of us who have ever had the daunting responsibility of actually CALLING the names of every precious senior and the unspoken pressure to GET IT RIGHT with perfect enunciation and clarity, the pomp and circumstance tune played endlessly, chorale singing so beautifully, speeches from valedictorians, guests of honor, family, friends, classmates, teammates, crazy wardrobes under those black robes, blue associates robes, marshalls marshaling, faculty beaming, parents proud, honor grads honored, magna cm laude, cm laude, thank-the-laudy, cars parked everywhere, staff serving selflessly, tassels moved, hats tossed, photos galore, feasting, friendships, laughter, tears, joy, sadness, relief, goals reached, milestone passed, sacred endings, new beginnings, Emmanuel. Always, Emmanuel. God with us.
I miss you today. I am very proud of each of you. I long for time in the near future where we can share all that we missed...on graduation day.

Dear School of Christian Ministries Alumni,

You are cordially invited to the 4th Annual School of Christian Ministries Alumni Breakfast as part of Emmanuel College’s 94th Homecoming Weekend. The event will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 9 o’clock a.m. in the Taylor Dining Hall. It is our heartfelt desire to bring together alumni from all the classes of SCM graduates from the past thirty-one years. The breakfast will include a opportunities for catching up with old friends, updates on the current SCM endeavors, awards, recognitions, great stories, and so much more! While we encourage everyone to enjoy all of the Homecoming events, we understand that some of your schedules will not permit this to happen. Even so, we urge you to attend the breakfast. The cost for the breakfast is $15.00 per person and your spouse/guests are welcome. The fastest way to register for the entire Homecoming Weekend is at http://www.ec.edu/alumni/homecoming-2012. However, if you are only able to attend the SCM Breakfast, please email Mara East ([email protected]) directly to reserve your seats and plan on paying by cash or check at the event.

We also need your help! In an effort to reach all of our alumni, would you please pass this email on to all your SCM alumni friends via Facebook, email, text, word of mouth, etc. Remember to include the link to the registration page so we can obtain an accurate number for meal preparations.

Congratulations to Pastor Greg Dixon for winning the $25 Visa gift card for participating in the SCM Alumni survey!

Also, thank you to all who participated! We had about 18% of our alumni give us fantastic feedback and let us know what they've been up to. We are so proud of and thankful for our SCM Alumni!

Hey SCM Alumni!

The SCM Alumni survey is going very well, and we're getting back some great responses! Thank you so much for helping us as we seek to nurture community and improve our school! :) Your responses are helping us decide what works, what to improve, and what to add/remove.

About 13% of our alumni have responded thus far! And we can't wait to hear from even more!

We know that many of you have lived stories worth sharing and we want to hear them. Where have you been since you graduated? What have you learned? What do you wish you could tell yourself as a freshman all those years ago?

We have compiled a survey to organize all of our questions. It should only take a few minutes to complete, but your contribution would mean so much to us. Your input will help shape the future of the SCM program.
