Too often, we talk about the athletic experience in terms of goals. Of what’s next. And those goals matter. They drive early mornings, long practices, road trips, and the relentless pursuit of improvement.
But just as important as the destination is the journey itself. The moments, memories, relationships, and growth that happen along the way.
Take Cougar Baseball, for instance. Garrett Houston’s 8th inning grand slam at sectionals, captured by Kerri Frawley, mother of catcher Alex Frawley, perfectly reflects the heart of this year’s team.
“Such an exciting moment for the team! We loved watching our son Alex compete alongside such an amazing group of guys this past year. Go Cougars!,” said Kerri.
While Head Coach Chance Sharp recently announced he is pursuing a new opportunity, his time at Highland leaves behind a season defined by resilience, camaraderie, and Cougar pride.
“I enjoyed watching this group of guys grow throughout the year,” said Sharp. “We needed a lot of different players to step up and make this a successful season, and they answered the call time and time again. It felt like we spent a lot of time traveling and living on the road this spring, and that’s never easy. I’m proud of the way this team continued to compete and battle right down to the very end. This group represented the Highland Cougars the right way, and I’m thankful for everything they poured into the season.”
That’s what the Cougar experience is really about. Not only wins and milestones, but growth, perseverance, and lessons that last long after the final inning.
As one journey closes, another begins. Cougar Baseball is already building toward an exciting new chapter, with strong recruiting momentum and a promising future ahead for the 2026-27 season. The next generation of Cougars is ready to continue the tradition.
