Looking for a meaningful career working with deaf and hard-of-hearing infants and toddlers? Earn your Certificate of Achievement in Deaf Education – Early Intervention Studies while earning transferable college credit.

This program prepares you with the knowledge and skills to support young deaf children and partner with their families. You’ll explore Deaf culture, Deaf history, child development, counseling, ASL linguistics, health and safety, and social justice—all through courses taught entirely in American Sign Language.

Certificate Designed specifically for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, this certificate emphasizes ASL fluency and culturally responsive early intervention practices.

Students also benefit from collaboration with Gallaudet University’s Clerc Center and the California School for the Deaf, Fremont, providing valuable connections to leaders in Deaf education.

Honored to welcome President Caroline Solomon and Senior Director Joe Riggio from NTID/RIT to Ohlone College’s Deaf Center and GURC-West. It was wonderful to share our work in accessibility, Deaf-centered education, and innovation while exploring future collaborations with President Charles Sasaki and Dean Rakesh Swamy. On May 21, 2026, the Ohlone College Deaf Center hosted our Student Recognition Celebration. đź’šđź’›

It was a beautiful evening celebrating our students’ achievements, leadership, and community. We honored our graduates, recognized the ASL Club officers, celebrated university transfers, acknowledged the Deaf-Centered Interpreting Preparation Program (DCIPP), and celebrated the accomplishments of our students.

We also took time to honor the memory and legacy of Ronald Charles Burdett (1947–2025) as the first Dean and recognize the people who have helped build and support the Deaf Center’s history and future.

Congratulations to all of our students. Your hard work, dedication, and passion inspire us. Thank you to our faculty, staff, families, and community members for continuing to support Deaf education at Ohlone College.

The future of our Deaf community is bright! ✨💚💛
