Fresno City College Welding and Fabrication

Fresno City College Welding and Fabrication The FCC Welding Technology Program provides an opportunity for students to prepare for employment in welding and metal fabrication industries.

Welding is essential to the development and advancement of many industries. Welding is one of the principal means of fabricating and repairing metal products. Companies have found welding to be the most efficient, dependable, and economical way to repair and fabricate all commercial products and structures in construction. It is hard to name a industry that does not employ some type of welding tod

ay. Here at Fresno City College the Welding technology department has been able to train many students in the expanding field of welding. Most students here are starting their training as a welder for the first time and there are many students that are in the field already but are being certified in another classification of welding. This department has the capabilities to train and certify a student interested in these types of welding:

SMAW ( Shield Metal-Arc Welding ) STICK
GMAW ( Gas Metal-Arc Welding ) MIG
FCAW (Flux Cored-Arc Welding)
GTAW ( Gas Tungsten-Arc Welding ) TIG

We are very happy for our two teams competing in in the Welding League and Advanced Manufacturing competitions. The Welding League students made it through the first round after building their F4 Corsair. They are currently working on the next project that's due later this month. Hopefully they do well enough to move to round 3. The Advanced Manufacturing team was just notified that they will be heading to Las Vegas in March to compete in the regionals. There are 16 teams competing in the regionals and 4 move on to the national finals for the Advanced Manufacturing competition. We wish everyone competing for the best as they compete for a national championship.

We finally opened up the crate to our Dragon A400. It's been in storage for a little over a year. We have it in which hopefully will be our new Fabrication and automation shop. Hopefully we can get power to it and our Power max 85 with sync technology sometime before 2025. Our students can't wait to use it for their projects.

What a great event last night for the . hosted the inaugural Jessi Combs Gala in Parker Colorado. There were about 200 people in attendance there to support this great foundation so they can help more young ladies who want to make their mark in the career technical trades industry. The foundation also recognized some of their scholarship winners including recipient Paige Camacho. Jessi was a great advocate for young women trying to make their way into the trades industry and I want to thank the foundation for helping keep her dream alive!
