Announcing the class of 2026 President’s Graduate Medalist – Laura Ramos 🎓🥇

Laura Ramos is a two-time alumna of Fresno State, having earned her B.S. in business administration in 2011. Since then, she has worked continuously at Fresno State, starting her career at the Center for Irrigation Technology. She has served as director of research and education for the California Water Institute since 2018. Throughout her time in the MBA program, Ramos used what she learned in the classroom to improve policies and procedures at the California Water Institute. She aligned the institute’s planning with the university’s strategic goals, expanded partnerships with tribal and environmental groups to bring all stakeholders to water negotiations and launched a Weekly Water Insights segment on KMJ radio.

Ramos’ culminating MBA project focused on defining a niche strategy for the California Water Institute, supported by a financial sustainability framework targeting at least $1 million in annual grant funding. Ramos plans to lead the institute to be the preeminent public policy institute for the Central Valley.

Honorary doctor of laws recipient Joshua Easterly’s life and work illustrate that where you start doesn’t dictate how far you can go. ✨

Growing up as one of five children, Easterly began his higher education journey at Fresno City College before transferring to Fresno State, where he graduated magna cm laude from the Craig School.

Today, as a co-founding partner and co-president of the global investment firm Sixth Street, Easterly expands educational opportunities by serving on the board of trustees at Harlem Academy in New York, an institution dedicated to breaking the cycles of disadvantage for low-income children. He funds scholarships for Fresno State business scholars and created the Frank Easterly scholarship for future educators at the Kremen School of Education and Human Development, reinforcing his conviction that strong teachers have a multiplier effect across the Central Valley.

Easterly will receive an honorary doctorate during the Craig School commencement ceremony at 8 a.m. Friday, May 15, at the Save Mart Center. Full story on Fresno State Today at bit.ly/4ng1CF3.
