I am sorry to pass along the sad news that our beloved colleague Jesse Battan passed away unexpectedly last week. Jesse was a member of our department for more than 40 years, 15 of which he generously served as department chair. There will be a memorial service on campus next month; I'll post details when I have them. If you have memories of Jesse you'd like to share, we welcome you to send them to his wife, Terri Snyder ([email protected]), who will share them with the rest of his family.

Our own Craig Loftin was named Outstanding Lecturer of the year at CSUF! If you had the pleasure of taking one of Craig's classes, you can congratulate him at [email protected]!

An LGBTQ+ historian and lecturer in American studies at CSUF since 2006, Craig Loftin is the recipient of the university's 2023 Outstanding Lecturer Award.
