California State University - Fullerton (CSUF) College of Communications (CoC) launched in fall 2013 an initiative to develop and maintain a qualified workforce that is industry ready by offering courses and certificates on Latino-oriented communication studies. The Spanish for Hispanic Media academic certificate, a collaboration with the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, provides a

pathway to Spanish bilingual students that enables them to become Spanish-proficient in the communications field.

Want to continue supporting the professional and experiential learning of first-generation college students? There's still time! Titans Give—Cal State Fullerton's 24-hour fundraising event—is ongoing through March 12, 2025. Thanks to supporters like you, LCI has reached incredible milestones. We've taken our students to the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and Dodger Stadium, and we've hosted a Latinx Film Series covering crucial topics such as climate change, family roles, diversity, and LGBTQ+ themes. 1) Panel: "The Entertainment Industry for Diverse Young Professionals" with communication professionals Ivette Rodriguez and Karina Valenzuela at Hetebrink-AB's TSU on Tuesday, 4/23, from 2:30-3:45 pm.

2) First LCI's Latinx Media Showcase is happening on April 23, 2024, from 4:30-6:30 pm in Titan Theater as part of CommWeek. The showcase includes films and other audiovisual work produced by students of Cal State Fullerton's College of Communications. All are welcome. A small reception will follow the showcase

Click here to help us fund our field trips, scholarships, and workshops for our Latinx students for the workforce and to build a democratic society. In the last year, LCI benefited over 300 students. The Latino Communications Institute (LCI), in partnership with Los Angeles Dodgers, wants to invite you to an informational session for The Los Angeles Dodgers’s Emerging Talent Program that will take place on Wednesday, January 3 at 3:00 p.m. via online. The Los Angeles Dodger’s Emerging Talent Programs include a 5-month fellowship program from March 2024 to August 2024 and a 12-week internship program from May 2024 to August 2024. All qualified applicants for the fellowship program must be a current student with a graduation date of December 2023/January 2024 OR within one year post graduation.
