Our Story

This is the official page for the Churchill Institute for Global Engagement (CIGE) at Westminster College. Since 2008, the Institute has focused on fostering a learning environment that gives students, faculty, and staff a broader perspective on the world and significant events taking place in it. Through the CIGE, several distinguished, high-profile programs and events take place on campus, including the annual Hancock Symposium, the John Findley Green Foundation Lecture, the Cherry-Price Leadership Lecture, the Brauer Lecture, and many others. These events allow guest speakers, whose careers often focus on international work, to speak and teach students about their field and global professional work. The Institute's primary mission is “to foster excellence in international understanding”--in Sir Winston’s words, to forge “Sinews of Peace”--throughout our campus and beyond. Through our Global & Transnational Studies program and our partnerships with international student services, the Institute strives to enable all students to experience the "global" right here in Fulton, Missouri, USA on the campus at the historical Westminster College.
