We’re celebrating a historic moment at The Woods with a pretty special raffle.

Happy Labor Day, Owls! 💚

William Woods University offices will be closed, and no classes will be in session on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

A few things to know if you’ll be on campus:
• Campus buildings will operate on weekend hours.
• Tucker Dining Hall will be open with regular weekday hours.
• The Owls Nest and The Burrow will be closed.
• Campus Safety will remain available for students who need assistance.

Enjoy the long weekend, Owls! We’ll see you back in class on Tuesday.

Have you met Fred?

For more than four decades, the Equicizer has been used by riders around the world for training, education, and rehabilitation. Developed in 1982 by Eclipse Award-winning jockey Frank “Frankie” Lovato Jr., the rider-powered mechanical horse gives equestrians a controlled environment to work on position, balance, fitness, and technique.

At William Woods, ours is known as Fred, named by Professor Gayle Lampe in honor of her beloved horse of the same name. Fred’s bridle remains on display alongside the Equicizer today, carrying a little piece of his story into the learning experience for our students.

A special thank you to Frankie Lovato Jr., the Equicizer team, and the generous supporters of the WWU Equestrian Program who help provide unique learning opportunities like this for our students.

Owls Associate Athletic Director/SWL and Head Softball Coach Tracy Gastineau has been selected for induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. Coach has amassed over 850 wins in her career and has impacted the lives of hundreds of athletes, leaving a legacy that extends far beyond the foul lines.
