Are you a high school student interested in theater? Then we have the perfect summer activity for you!

Introducing Theater at the Woods – a summer theater intensive designed for high school students with an interest in the performing arts. Theater at the Woods is designed to introduce 9th-12th grade students to collegiate theatre training. The intensive will feature a combination of performance and technical classes, team-building activities, and two productions. Theater at the Woods runs from June 1 through June 27.

Each morning, students will take various courses in both performance and technical
theatre. After a brief lunch break, students will rehearse with the show in which they are
cast. Courses taught will include Acting, Directing, Musical Theatre, Stage Combat, Stage Management, Scenic Design, Lighting Design, Scenic Painting, Sound Design, Costume Design, Theatrical Makeup.

Participating students will be cast for WWU’s two summer productions: Elephant's Graveyard (playing June 26th at 7:30 PM), and Godspell (playing June 27th at 7:30 PM. Performances will take place in Dulany Auditorium on the William Woods campus. Additionally, WWU is seeking interns in choreography, stage management, music, and stagecraft to assist with these two summer productions. The tuition will be waived for these interns, as their primary responsibility is production work.

Tuition is $500 per student. This nonrefundable tuition supports production expenses and performance. For more information contact Toni Kunst at [email protected].

Meet Kennedy Wisdom – William Woods’ first Dual program participant. WWU Dual is an innovative new program designed for students motivated to get a head start on college – students just like you (and Kennedy!). Students who thrive on an academic challenge and who understand the value of a college degree but are looking for ways to reduce the expense of earning one. We’ve structured Dual with an eye toward academic efficiency. You can satisfy high school graduation requirements and at the same time earn credit hours toward a college degree.

About Dual, Kennedy says, “Graduating high school with my associate degree through the partnership with William Woods was one of the best opportunities I could have had. Being able to take college courses while still in high school challenged me, built my confidence, and prepared me for the next steps in my education. Now, I’ve entered college ahead of the game, with credits already completed, and I feel ready for whatever comes next.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

So, there it is – Dual in a nutshell. All in all, we’d say it’s never made more sense to do two things at once.

Please join us in congratulating our 2026 DECA Career Development Conference attendees!

Over 1500 students, advisors, and professionals attended the 2026 International Collegiate DECA Career Development Conference recently held in Louisville, KY. William Woods students, Shannon Jones (Financial Accounting); Charlotte Luczak (Entertainment Marketing); Alexandra Nortrup (Entertainment Marketing); Briana Reynolds (Business Ethics); Lubos Polacko (Corporate Finance); and Justus Yates (Business Ethics) did an amazing job representing WWU! Each and every one performed strongly in their events – and Shannon Jones even placed in the top 10 for the Financial Accounting event.

Collegiate DECA prepares students for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management through competitions, workshops, conferences, and networking opportunities. William Woods’ Collegiate DECA chapter prepares students to be future leaders with personal faculty mentoring and involvement. “Allowing our students to be part of this educational, career-driven conference is invaluable, providing them with a marketable advantage as they pursue their careers,” said Dr. Linda Duke, WWU
Collegiate Advisor.

One of the pivotal events of the William Woods academic year is the annual Symposium for Research, Scholarship and Creativity. During this day-long event, Seniors from all majors present their capstone or final projects to WWU students and faculty. The Symposium allows the broader university community to engage with the diverse scholarly achievements of the William Woods student body.
While senior presentations take the spotlight, the Symposium is a highly inclusive experience – welcoming participation from various campus groups, including Mentor-Mentee faculty-student pairs, honors students, faculty, underclassmen and graduate students.

“The Symposium celebrates the research and academic achievements that span our entire campus community and is a wonderful way to recognize the impressive talent of our students and faculty as the academic year comes to a close,” said Frank Giuseffi, EdD, Chair of Doctoral Studies and Director of Research and the Symposium.

Each year, the Symposium concludes with presentations by selected Senior Symposium finalists. Awards are given for the top three finalists. We extend our heart-felt congratulations to this year’s Symposium winners: Anna Hirschkowitz (1st place), Fatima Hussain (2nd place) and Emma Griggs (3rd place). We couldn’t be prouder of you and all the other 2026 Symposium participants!
