Limestone junior and music education major, Jimmy Brown, performed at the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) national conference March 26-29. Jimmy played alto saxophone in the intercollegiate band, directed by James Jackson. This band is made up of students from small universities, and each student is nominated by a professor from their program. Jimmy was nominated by Dr. Chip Hill. Other bands that performed represent University of North Texas, Texas Christian University, UNC Greensboro, Baylor University, St. Olaf, and many more.
Jimmy was accompanied by adjunct music professor, Del Burton. The trip was generously supported financially by Limestone's Real Men Lead Program and Dr. William Ross and Carolos Parker.

This was a once-in-a-lifetime educational and musical opportunity for Jimmy. When you come from a small town and attend a small university, you don't get many opportunities to perform with other students on a national level, and you don't get to hear the best performing ensembles in the nation. This experience provided Jimmy with a new national network of musicians and the knowledge of the national standard of music in the band world. This is priceless as he completes his degree is music education at Limestone and onward into his career as a music educator in the region.

Jimmy is from Jefferson, SC, and will graduate from Limestone with a degree is Music Education in Spring 2026.

Del Burton teaches percussion and directs the Wind Ensemble. He is a 30-year veteran of South Carolina public schools.

It's spring choral concert time again, and this one is a big undertaking. We haven't done excerpts from "Messiah" since 2018, but now is the time. With 17 student singers, 20 community singers, and a small chamber group accompanying, we will sing selections from Part II, which ends with the beloved Hallelujah Chorus. The second portion of the concert features lighter fare including gospel style pieces, a little Disney, a little Broadway - something for everyone! If you're in the area, please come! The address for the venue is 254 Grassy Pond Road, Gaffney.
