The SPS exists to help students transform themselves into contributing members of the professional community. Course work develops only one range of skills. Other skills needed to flourish professionally include effective communication and personal interactions, leadership experience, establishing a personal network of contacts, presenting scholarly work in professional meetings and journals, and outreach services to the campus and local communities.

TWO UPCOMING OUTREACH EVENTS! Join us on February 12th at First Magnitude Brewing Company to hear from three professors about their journeys as women in STEM. On February 15th at Depot Park, come volunteer with us as early as 9:30 AM and as late as 1:30 PM to show cool science experiments to kids at the Science Fair for Kids! We hope to see you as these outreach events!

A huge shout out to our volunteers at the Meadowbrook Elementary Outreach Event! This was our last elementary school outreach event of the year, and we had a blast! Please look forward to announcements for next semesters outreach events!

Gator physicists, it’s that time of year again! Our final GBM will feature a cookie decorating social full of holiday spirit, so make sure you take a sleigh ride down to NPB2205 this Thursday at 1:30 PM!

Joining our REU workshop is Dr. Amlan Biswas, director of the UF Condensed Matter REU. Please join us to learn from him and a panel of undergraduates about applying and making the most of your REU.

Our day at STEM on the Lawn was a huge success! Thank you to for having us. Teaching the next generation about physics is always a rewarding opportunity, so look forward to our own Outreach events throughout the year for more!

Our Mentor-Mentee Speed Dating event was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who came out. Assignments will come out soon, and we look forward to hearing about all the fun times the mentor-mentee groups will have!

Come live it up at our first GBM (General Body Meeting) of the semester on Tuesday, September 2 at 6 PM in NPB 2205! GBMs are the biggest meetings we have, where we give you guys updates about upcoming events and have food and a fun activity to go along with it! This time, in addition to food, we will be hosting a Mario Kart tournament! If you haven’t played before, this is a great opportunity to try it out, and if you’re a seasoned pro, this is an excellent way to show off your skills and see how you stack up against the rest of SPS! We hope to see you there!
