TOMORROW! All three of our reuse stores will be having a sale to celebrate the end of Zero Waste Week ‘25 on Saturday March 29th.

Visit Renovator Reuse for 20% off everything in the store — that includes building materials, hand tools and power tools, hardware, lighting, plumbing, windows, doors, and more! They are next door to the Repurpose Project at 1814 NE 23rd Ave.

Reuse Planet will have their inventory available for 20% off today as well — visit them at 1540 NE Waldo Rd for furniture, appliances both large and small, clothing, electronics, lamps and decor!

And of course we’ll be having a sale at the Repurpose Project as well, so come see us at 1920 NE 23rd Ave for a 50% discount on everything in the store except heart pine and upholstery! That means discounts on fabric, electronics, kitchen items, craft and art supplies, scrapbooking materials, music and media, and all the odds and ends you can think of!

All three of our stores are open from 10am-6pm. The Repurpose Project and Renovator Reuse are right next door, and since Reuse Planet is only a 4 minute drive it’s a piece of cake to stop by all three stores. We hope to see you around!

We encourage you to buy used year round through whatever secondhand outlets suit your needs. Shopping secondhand and locally, or swapping with neighbors and participating in Buy Nothing groups, goes a long way toward reducing waste and keeping material in the circular economy. We love the customers and donors who frequent our stores, but we also love to see thrift stores flourishing all over the country. No matter where you are, there are always steps you can take to live zero waste. We are so glad to have the folks at Zero Waste Gainesville here working towards zero waste goals, so follow them for a little more insight into what zero waste means for everyone!

If you haven't checked your irrigation controller in a while, you may want to take a look and ensure it's set to water only one day a week, on the correct day.

Irrigation is not permitted between 10 am and 4 pm (when evaporation is greatest).

Irrigation is limited to no more than one hour or 3/4 inch per irrigation zone per irrigation day.
Restrictions apply to wells, lakes, creeks, and city water.

Automatic irrigation systems must have a functioning rainfall shut off device which bypasses irrigation when there is sufficient moisture.

The following are EXEMPT: 🥬🍅 vegetable gardens, hand watering with a spray nozzle with an automatic shut off, reclaimed water, athletic fields, micro-irrigation, and new landscapes for the first 60 days.

1st Sunday in Nov. to 2nd Sunday March Winter Landscape Irrigation Restrictions
Odd House # - Saturday
Even House # - Sunday
Non-Residential - Tuesday
Water before 10 am or after 4 pm as needed.

Here is this week's Zero Waste News! 📰📰 gainesvillefl.gov/ZeroWasteNews

Cartons Dropped from Recycling Program

As the saying goes, there's no use crying over spilled milk. However, in this case, it's the carton that has met its end, not the milk. Food and beverage cartons are no longer accepted in the curbside recycling programs of Gainesville and Alachua County. Cartons are also no longer accepted for recycling drop-off at any of the Alachua County Rural Collection Centers.

Attempts to find domestic markets capable of processing this material have been unsuccessful. Additionally, the volume of cartons collected locally has been insufficient to fill shipments before the containers become moldy, rendering them unsuitable for recycling.

No longer accepted for recycling are:
❌ Gable-top containers, such as milk, juice & egg substitute cartons
❌ Tetra Pak (shelf-stable) containers, such as protein drinks, broth and boxed wine
❌ Juice boxes

For information on what materials are accepted for recycling, visit gainesvillefl.gov/WhatCanBeRecycled.

Another great opportunity to get out and do something for our community.
