That’s what students across UF gave back to their communities this year.

Today we’re proud to recognize one of our PaCE students among those honored. Kelsey Reader, an undergraduate studying Advertising, was recognized with the Presidential Service Award for her service this year.

The work didn’t stop at graduation.

Jennifer Martocci, a graduate in Entomology and Nematology, was recognized with the Presidential Service Award this year after completing hundreds of hours of service in her community.

Across the University of Florida, students contributed more than 83,000 hours of service this year, each hour representing time, effort and real impact.

But if you’ve ever needed one, you know they’re much more than that.

It’s placing a baby on their mother’s chest for the very first time.

Sitting with families as they process difficult news.

Recognizing a change in vitals before it becomes an emergency.

Asking if someone needs a hug after losing a loved one.

Standing beside patients as they make the hardest decisions of their lives.

These are the moments that define the profession and the responsibility that comes with it.

What started as just five programs is now the No. 1 online bachelor’s program in the country. 🏆🐊

Now, nearly 8,000 graduates later, UF Online has reached students in 70+ countries and earned the top spot for the third time. The Celebration of Champions Breakfast gave us a moment to reflect on that journey.

If you think microbiology is just about disease, you’re only understanding a fraction of it. 🧫

It shows up in the soil, the ocean, the atmosphere, the food we eat, and inside our own bodies. Microbes are everywhere! They’re breaking things down, supporting food production and even helping regulate the oxygen we breathe.

That’s why people in this field go into areas like government, forensics, healthcare, biotech, agriculture and much more!

Once you start paying attention to it, you realize how much of the world runs on things you can’t even see.
