Today is World Mental Health Day, and this year's theme is "Mental Health Is a Universal Human Right."

What better day to launch our new Mind Body Life at Santa Fe College mental health campaign? Be sure to click on the campaign page and follow along for great advice on improving your mental and physical wellbeing or checkout resources on the website, https://ow.ly/6TtE50PVbMA.

The Mind Body Life project was created with funding obtained by SF in collaboration with the CDC and the Florida Department of Health (DOH).

The Mind Body Life website is designed specifically for college students to address their unique mental health challenges in school and to remove common barriers preventing them from seeking or receiving care.

The goal of the website, social media posts, and other aspects of this broad initiative is to provide engaging and educational information that lowers the stigma around mental health by discussing the connection between mind, body, and life—and to promote access to local campus care and mental health services.

Anytime—day or night—help is just a click away. 💚

As a reminder, Santa Fe College students can reach the campus Counseling Center by emailing [email protected] or calling 352-395-5508. Student Life

SF understands some SF students are recovering from the impacts of Hurricane Idalia, and placing classes on hold after just starting a new term can be stressful and disruptive.

We want to remind students about TimelyCare’s 24/7, on-demand emotional and mental health support services, available to SF students free of charge.
• TalkNow: Use the TimelyCare app for on-demand emotional and mental health support from a behavioral health professional.
• Peer Community: Within the TimelyCare app, you can anonymously post about what you’re feeling, support peers going through similar situations, and reply to others all within the Peer Community.

If you haven't signed up for TimelyCare yet, visit www.timelycare.com/sfcollege and use your SF email address to register. YOU MUST ENTER THE EMAIL ADDRESS AS - [email protected]. If you mistakenly entered your SFID number or SFID@email and are being asked for an access code, you must uninstall the app and try again with the correct email address.

Continue to be safe and take care.

This one-day event will engage Santa Fe College and members from the greater Gainesville community in exploring the role that education can play in breaking the cycle of incarceration. Symposium sessions are meant to increase public understanding of incarceration in Florida, its impact on our communities, and the role each of us can play in reducing rates of recidivism and promoting safer, stronger communities. There will be opportunities to hear from current and former SF students with carceral experience, SF administrators who are currently working to promote educational opportunities for those with carceral experience, along with community partners who play a pivotal role in supporting those who are impacted by incarceration.

Register for this event and learn more about the Free to Learn initiatives at www.sfcollege.edu/freetolearn.

Highlights of the Symposium include:
-Keynote Speaker Romarilyn Ralston, Executive Director of Project Rebound at California State University Fullerton
-Live Podcast Session—Moderated Discussion with Free to Learn podcast participants, along with audience Q&A
-Panel Discussions on Topics regarding Education In and After Prison
-Interactive Workshop—Facilitated Small Group Brainstorm Sessions exploring goals and steps forward for the SF community

Congratulations to all Spring 2022 graduates. The graduation ceremonies this week included a surprise military family visit, an engagement, first-generation college graduates, high school dual enrollment students graduating with a two-year degree before completing high school, and so many inspiring stories of what the future holds for these SF grads.

Some graduates are choosing to continue school at Stanford, Harvard, University of Florida, UNF, USF, UCF, FAMU, and too many more to mention. While others are headed into the workforce, both locally and afar as nurses in, dental assistants, respiratory therapists, plumbers, welders, office administrators, accountants, and the list goes on.

In this year's personalized graduation experience, each graduate had their moment on stage. In addition to having their name read, each graduate had the opportunity to share their accomplishments, future career aspirations, and something personal they wished to share. All in attendance were reminded of the importance of SF's mission to serving North Central Florida and beyond, by adding value to the lives of our students and enriching our community.

Congratulations graduates! We are proud of your perseverance and honored you chose to be a part of the SF family.
