The UF wind engineering program is proud to be part of the NSF NHERI Network. We host one of the seven experimental facilities, which is available to hazard researchers across the country.

Researchers in the NSF-funded NHERI network mitigate damage from natural hazards.

Happy Holidays! My research group has prepared a preliminary damage survey, from online sources, on the Christmas 2015 tornadoes that affected communities in more than five states over the Christmas season. I wish to express gratitude to my graduate students who worked feverishly throughout the holidays to research the damage, under our usual time constraints, even as the second tornado outbreak was gaining strength. Our efforts in a small way acknowledges the hardships that many families in the affected communities will now face, as they rebuild their lives following damaged homes, injuries and fatalities. We are hopeful that we can play our part in improving how future houses are built, and that our efforts will pave the way to tornado-resilient communities.

Best wishes for a Joyful and Fulfilling 2016!
