Greetings,
After careful consideration and in response to the novel coronavirus, we have decided to cancel the UF NE Alumni Reunion previously scheduled for April 2.
In an effort to minimize the potential spread of COVID-19, the University of Florida is undertaking precautionary measures such as shifting all face-to-face courses to an online format. We believe postponing an event that would bring together a large number of faculty, students, alumni and friends is in proportion to those same precautions. The health and safety of our department’s community, both on campus and off, is of utmost importance to us.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to reschedule this event.

Today is my last day as being the Director of the Nuclear Engineering Program at the University of Florida. I want to thank all of you that supported me and the Program over the past 5+ years, and gave me advice as I tried to build up our Program. I am really happy with where the Program now stands, having now been in the hiring process in one from or another for all of the current NE faculty and building it into the vision I had when I returned to UF in 2012. The successes have far outnumbered the missteps and bumps along the way. I am really excited for where Dr. Enqvist will be able to take the Program in the next several years.

As of now, I would encourage you to also join the University of Florida Materials Science and Engineering page (UF Department of Materials Science & Engineering .UFL). The department also have a twitter page which will post updates both for Materials Science & Engineering and Nuclear Engineering at: https://twitter.com/ufmse ()

A rare look inside Watts Bar Unit 2's reactor vessel, which is in its first scheduled refueling outage. The outage was planned as part of normal, long-term operations and integration into the generation fleet. The team will safely replace 72 of the 193 fuel assemblies with new fuel for the next 18-month cycle. Once back online, Watts Bar Unit 2 will continue supplying 1,150 megawatts of around-the-clock, carbon-free energy.
