Next, we have Dr. Parisa Rashidi. She received her PhD in computer science with an emphasis on machine learning & is currently an associate professor at the J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering. She is the director of the “Intelligent Health Lab” (i-Heal) & her research aims to bridge the gap between machine learning and patient care.

Next, we have Madison Kelberman. She is in her final semester of her bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering & works as an undergraduate researcher in the Brain Mapping Laboratory. She is currently working on research for the University Scholars Program and will be presenting a poster at the undergraduate research symposium.

Outside of research, she is involved with the engineering honor society Tau Beta Pi. She has also worked as an undergraduate TA for multiple classes.

We partnered with the UF Career Connection Center to organize a clothing drive for Women’s History Month!
The donations we will accept include: suits, blazers, dress pants, professional skirts, heels, dress shoes, flats, belts, ties, scarves, jewelry, blouses, cardigans, and button-down shirts. The Career Closet would like business professional clothing in good/very good/excellent condition. All sizes are welcome, but we are in need specifically of the following sizes:
Men’s suits: sizes 30-38
Womens Suits: 0-6; 16-18+
Men’s shirts: 14, all sizes
Women’s shirts: all sizes
Women’s skirts: all sizes
Dresses: all sizes
When donating clothing or other items, please remember that students want to achieve a current, professional appearance.

Making a choice to avoid using a word like ‘gay’,’lame’, or ‘insane’ as shorthand to mean something is bad or difficult isn’t about being silenced or ‘politically correct’ — it’s being informed and respectful. Even though we might not mean it this way, using words related to identities like sexual orientation and disability as if they are negative increases stigma against marginalized groups.

The celebration starts today, September 15th, because it marks the anniversary of the independence of Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, & Nicaragua in 1821.
