QTPOC (Queer Trans people of Color) Collective is a group at the University of Florida that is dedicated to creating a safe space for QTPOC across the Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, and Desi diasporas in Gainesville. Our goal is to facilitate educational discussions on healing and thriving in a predominantly white system with an emphasis on building solidarity, de-centering whiteness, and resur

facing our deeply interconnected and complicated histories. We attempt to achieve this through our programming, coalition, visual archives, mobilization, and upliftment.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE:

โ€œHi everyone, a few classmates and I are organizing a collection drive for any used (but in good condition) protective eyewear, like chemistry lab goggles, for protesters on the frontlines here in FL! Your old chem lab goggles could help a protester protect themselves from being injured by tear gas, mace, or pepper spray and we are hoping to fill an urgent need.

If you can donate any used chemistry lab goggles, we will be collecting donations in the covered courtyard in front of the Reitz Union traffic circle, at the times listed below. Please share this post with anyone you know who is currently in Gainesville and would be interested in donating their goggles! Thank you in advance and stay safe everyone! If you have any questions, feel free to send me (Atia Khan) a message.โ€

Hello QTPOCC!
In response to recent updates and changes in UF policy regarding COVID-19, the Q***r and Trans People of Color Collective (QTPOCC) will be cancelling our upcoming discussion meetings until further notice. We prioritize the safety and wellness of our community and suggest taking care of yourself in the ways you can. The following UF resources may provide assistance during this time: Counseling and Wellness Center (352-392-1575), Student Health Care Center (352-392-1161), Student Legal Services (352-392-5297), and U Matter, We Care (352-294-2273). In addition, those identifying as LGBTQ+ people of color are welcome to join our GroupMe (https://groupme.com/join_group/56803713/zMYztmN3). We wish everyone the best during these difficult times, and we will provide updates in the future. Thank you!
