Stockton University is celebrating the life of Gloria Steinem, a prominent activist in the feminism movement. We at Stockton had the pleasure of welcoming her to our campus in the early months of 1982. During that same year, she appeared on The Tonight Show and had a Letterman interview where she discussed her efforts to pass the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA).
The year after her Stockton University appearance, she published her book, "Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions." Much of her public engagement helped to integrate women's rights into mainstream conversation. Pictured are some photos of her on Stockton's campus along with a scan of an article in The Argo about her visit.
Gloria Steinem once said, "The future depends entirely on what each of us does every day; a movement is only people moving." Her wisdom and activism will be missed. πŸ’›πŸ“° The Argo Stockton Performing Arts Center

Two Ospreys will be cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles this season, and not from the stands. Congratulations to Jackson O'Brien '26 and Adriana Trigiani '23 on becoming 2026 Eagles Cheerleaders.

Jackson studied Performing Arts with a concentration in Dance Studio Operations and was a member of the Stockton Dance Team for three years. He found out he made the team during Stockton's Commencement ceremony. "It was such a surreal moment, and with my friends all around me, it made it all the more special," he said.

Adriana studied Performing Arts with a concentration in Dance Performance and was a member of the Stockton Dance Team for four years. She was in the middle of teaching at the studio when she got the good news. "Everyone rushed in to congratulate me. It was such an amazing feeling to have that support. It is such an honor to be representing an amazing organization with passionate fans," she said.

Go Ospreys, and Go Eagles! πŸ¦…πŸ¦…

Jennifer Sagan '21 was five years old when oysters first caught her attention. She was splashing around in the Chesapeake Bay on a summer vacation visiting her grandparents and noticed a sign with an oyster shell graphic. Underneath was a warning from the Virginia Department of Health against consuming shellfish from the waterway.

That little girl grew up and is now collecting oyster shells from more than 20 restaurants, festivals and community dropoff locations throughout the Rappahannock watershed and using them to raise more oysters, create reef habitat and restore the Chesapeake Bay.
