Our hearts are with the family and loved ones of our departed colleague Tomas "Tom" Itaas, Associate Director of Academic Achievement Programs, as he was laid to rest today after passing away on January 6 following an illness.
Tom served Stockton for nearly 18 years, passionately supporting students who were navigating academic challenges through coaching, mentorship, and programming that better equipped them to confidently persist and earn their degrees. Additionally, he served as the coordinator of the Table Tennis Club Team since 2013.
Tom was great at chess, ping pong, and golf, interests that often became ways for him to connect with others. He was intentional about relationships, forming genuine connections with staff and their children and often bringing baked goods to colleagues across campus. His desire to make people happy was evident through his small gestures.
Tom’s time and relationships mattered beyond the Stockton. His wife expressed appreciation for the “...love and support towards our family and Tom over the years and especially the past few months. He truly enjoyed being a part of such a great community surrounded by wonderful coworkers and peers, and we are thankful that he has so many great memories during his time at Stockton.”
Rest in Peace, Tom.
