The ones the ladies love and the fellas hate the most" The Galveston Alumni Chapter is rich with history and traditions. Armstrong, a well-known local businessman and the late Cornelius A. Harris, a well-known educator, organized the chapter. Both of these men were members of the Houston Alumni Chapter. Both lived and worked in Galveston and felt a need to have a chapter in this area. To get a cha

pter they needed more than just the two of them. They reached out and found six noble men. These men were James E. Coleman, Edward J. Crockett, William Jackson, A.W. MacDonald, Charles Moore, and Dr. Leon A. Morgan. Each of these men joined the fraternity through the Houston Alumni Chapter. The Houston Alumni Chapter and the Grand Board of Directors granted our chapter its charter on December 2, 1950, and the genesis of this chapter became official. All of the chapter’s charter members were either educators or in the business world. Each helped to shape the history of Galveston and the surrounding area in their own way. With ACHIEVEMENT as a base, our chapter’s charter members chose SCHOLARSHIP, CHARITY, and BROTHERHOOD as the chapter’s cherished goals.

The Galveston Alumni Chapter Chapter Resume 2011 • Chapter Meeting, Texas City, Texas. April 23, 2011. Provided financial support to Memorial Church for a can good drive they are having this month. • Avon Breast Cancer Walk, Service Project, Houston, Texas. April 17, 2011. Provided support in the form of Closing Ceremony support, crowd control, and other support as needed. This is the chapter's 4th year participating. • Galveston Pan Hellenic Greek Awards Banquet, Old Central Cultural Center, Galveston, Texas, April 17, 2010. Supported the event as a chapter brother was being recognized as Kappa of the Year. • Island Nupes Kappa Kar Wash Fundraiser, Houston, Texas. April 2, 2011. Proceeds will be used to send a kid to Kappa Kamp in Piney Woods, MS, support our Kappa League/ICARE Foundation, and the Wright Cuney Center in Galveston. Sprite Step Off, Houston, Texas - April 16, 2011. Took 10 young men from our Kappa League initiative to the step competition. • Attended the 75th Southwestern Province Council Meting & MOIP Spring 2011 Membership Intake Process, Hot Springs, Arkansas. March 23-27, 2011. Recognized for Outstanding Chapter Certification and 1st Chapter to submit for the second year in a row. • Chapter Meeting, Pearland, Texas. March 19, 2011. Provided financial support to the La Marque Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta for a local fundraiser banquet they are having on April 30, 2011. • Attended the Texas - New Mexico Kappa Kaucus, Tyler, Texas. February 26, 2011. • Kappa League Initiative, League City, Texas - February 26, 2011 - Held interviews for the inauguration of its ICARE Foundation/Kappa League initiative at LaMarque Middle School in LaMarque, Texas. Over 35 young men attended the interest meeting. • Kluster IV Founders Day, Houston, Texas - January 29, 2011. The event was hosted by the Beta Upsilon Chapter on the campus of Texas Southern University. • Chapter Meeting, Texas City, Texas. January 22, 2011. Provided financial support to the Galveston Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta for their annual Red & White Luncheon on February 12, 2011.
